Marty Strech and Bobby Baker are at the top of the junior men’s 15-16 and 17-18 all-around rankings, respectively, at the 2014 P&G Gymnastics Championships at Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center.

They were 10 years removed from their greatest athletic feats, but the distance between them at this moment at Consol Energy Center was a mere 10 feet.

For 2012 Olympic women’s all-around champion Gabby Douglas, the view looks good from here — both short term and long.

Fans, citizens of Pittsburgh, and USA Gymnastics National Congress and Trade Show attendees can enjoy a variety of activities and special events in conjunction with the P&G Gymnastics Championships, scheduled for Aug. 21-24 at CONSOL Energy Center.

Teammates? If you listen to both of them, Kyla Ross and Simone Biles act almost like sisters.

“Super best friends,’’ Ross said with a smile. “She has a great personality. We laugh the whole time we’re together.”

Their college choices are different, but their goals are the same. Both are eager to take the next step this week at the P&G Gymnastics Championships.
