USA Gymnastics announces Men’s World Champions Team and National Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 16, 2015 – 2015 U.S. men’s all-around gold and silver medalists Sam Mikulak of Newport Coast, Calif./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), and Donnell Whittenburg of Baltimore, Md./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), headline the U.S. Men’s Team for the 2015 World Championships, Oct. 23-Nov. 1, in Glasgow, Scotland. The 2015 World Championships are the first opportunity for countries to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in men’s and women’s gymnastics. USA Gymnastics also has announced the complete U.S. Senior National Team, which will be in place through the 2016 Winter Cup Challenge.

The U.S. Men’s Team was finalized by the Men’s Program Committee based on performances at the 2015 P&G Championships and the approved petitions by Dalton and Orozco, who are recovering from surgery and could not compete. The six men and two replacement athletes were determined by the 2015 World Championships Team Selection Committee following the conclusion of the 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships.
