USA Gymnastics announces P&G as title sponsor of P&G Gymnastics Championships and extends partnership through 2016

5678INDIANAPOLIS, June 24, 2013 – USA Gymnastics announced today that its partnership with Procter & Gamble will extend through the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and P&G will become the title sponsor of USA Gymnastics’ national championships, the P&G Gymnastics Championships. Through the P&G Secret brand, the company also retains title sponsorship of the Secret U.S. Classic.

The P&G Gymnastics Championships, USA Gymnastics’ premier annual event, showcases the country’s top male and female gymnasts vying for the coveted title of U.S. champion. Performances at the four-day event also determine the make-up of the U.S. National Team and may be a factor in selecting the U.S. Team for international events, including the World Championships. The 2013 P&G Championships is set for Aug. 15-18 at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.

“P&G is known for its integrity and quality, which are also two words to describe the competition at the P&G Gymnastics Championships,” said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics. “We have had a very successful partnership with P&G, and we look forward to partnering with them on activation and activities leading up to the Olympics in Rio.”

“Our partnership with the USA Gymnastics has successfully helped amplify our strategic choice to support the Olympics,” says Janet Fletcher, P&G Sports Marketing, Associate Marketing Director. “In addition, it showcases the important role P&G brands play in the gymnasts’ journey as they pursue their dreams on a national stage.”

In addition to the title sponsorship of the two events, P&G’s benefits also include television inventory and onsite presence at USA Gymnastics’ premier events, including the AT&T American Cup, P&G Gymnastics Championships and other events in the Olympic cycle; digital and social media promotions; grassroots sampling through gymnastics clubs; programs and promotions for USA Gymnastics membership, including sweepstakes, discounts, coupons, etc.; and integrated exposure in USA Gymnastics’ publications and website. P&G has been a sponsor of USA Gymnastics since 2008.
